NC Concealed Carry Handgun
The NCDOJ model course for citizens planning to apply for a Concealed Carry Handgun permit in North Carolina
Duration: 8 hours, including range qualification
This North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun (CCH) Training is the model course produced by the NC Justice Academy. The course includes at least eight hours of classroom instruction covering topics such as handgun safety, shooting fundamentals, marksmanship, and legal considerations. Upon completion of the course and required live-fire exercises, successful students will receive the certificate required to apply for the NC CCH permit.

Expectations and Outcomes
As a reminder, successful completion of this course includes both a written exam and a shooting qualification. Students not comfortable safely and independently operating and shooting a firearm are encouraged to seek guidance and practice before attending the class.

THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER COURSE. To receive credit for this class, students must pass a written exam and a shooting qualification with shots fired at 3, 5, and 7 yards.
It is assumed that students taking this course have previously handled firearms and are able to safely and independently load, unload, and fire a handgun.
Successful students, upon completion, will receive the certificate required to apply for the NC CCH permit.
Students will need a pistol and approximately 50 rounds of ammunition. A defensive caliber handgun is advised. Rimfire pistols are NOT recommended. Students who do not own a gun may rent a firearm from the range (selection may be limited).
The course fee includes all instruction, the NC DOJ Handbook/Textbook, additional course materials, and the completion certificate. Range and firearm rental fees (as applicable) are NOT included in the tuition costs and must be paid directly to our home range, EAGLE 1, upon arrival.
