Description
Purchasing a gun is part of the self-defense journey, but knowing how to use it safely and effectively is even more important. Education and training are critical methods to ensure students will be ready if they’re forced to use their firearms to defend themselves and their loved ones.
This class is the foundation of armed self-defense training. Whether you want to reliably put rounds on target or you’re building your skills for rapid acquisition and engagement of multiple targets in a real-world scenario, you will find these skills and more in Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Level 1Topics Covered
This course teaches the Core shooting drills of Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Level 1:
1. Extend – Touch – Press
2. Up and Up Multiple
3. Emergency Reload
4. Balance of Speed & Precision
Once the core shooting drills have been completed, the following additional shooting drills may be included:
1. Presentation from the Holster
2. Lateral Movement
3. Facing Movement
4. Tactical Stroll
5. Dynamic Deviation (optional per instructor)
6. Push Your Limits (optional per instructor)
7. Home Defense Simulation
Expectations and Outcomes
Upon the successful completion of this course, the student will receive a certificate from USCCA & Northpointe Training, LLC.

Documentation Requirements
Please bring an unexpired Ohio Driver License or State I.D. and your unexpired CCW/CHL to class.
The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
The instructor requires a copy of your Concealed Carry Weapons permit once you register.
Requirements
Students will be required to demonstrate safe gun handling skills, such as muzzle awareness and trigger finger discipline during dry fire and live-fire drills. Also, there is an e-learning to be completed prior to this class!! This must be completed before we meet so we can spend the day on the range shooting rather than in the classroom talking. 😉
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- Modern defensive pistol
- Holster (OWB, IWB, Appendix) - no shoulder, cross draw, Serpa, or middle-of-back styles
- At least three (3) magazines
- Speed loader
- Mag pouch
- Sturdy gun belt - Please understand this is NOT a Sunday-go-to-meeting belt. This is a rugged belt designed to support the weight of a firearm, a holster, and other carry accessories
- Ammo: 250 rounds, minimum. The more ammo you bring, the more you can shoot!! 😎
- ELECTRONIC hearing protection - Students must be able to clearly hear and understand instructors/instructions during this training
- Eye protection
- Appropriate range clothing - No low-cut shirts or open-toed shoes, etc.
- Brimmed hat or ball cap
- Note taking materials
- Lunch (We will NOT take a break for lunch – We will have a working lunch), snacks, and hydration
