The Defensive Shooting Fundamentals (Level 1) course will guide you through the information and skills you will need to handle a Dynamic Critical Incident. This course takes students from just sending rounds downrange to actually training in specific, tested methods of armed self-defense.

From stance to grip to physical shooting technique, DSF Level One will help you hone the edge on your inner warrior expert. You will train to get your body working with the gun instead of against it.

You will learn which intuitive skills work best with what the body will naturally do while under stress in a combat situation, and you will learn to apply this information simply and effectively, regardless of student skill level.

Documentation Requirements

Since the Defensive Handgun Fundamentals (Level 1) course is 100% live-fire training, we require that a student first be familiar with the principles, techniques, and over-arching mindsets from which we will be working.

** Prior to the live portion of this training, the student is required to complete an online "E-Learning" segment. You will pay $30 directly to the USCCA for this packet.

Once you have REGISTERED with PRP for the Defensive Handgun Fundamentals (Level 1) Course, we will email you explicit instructions on how to obtain your USCCA DSF Learning Packet, which includes:

  • Defensive Handgun Fundamentals (Level 1) Book - (Retail value $35)
  • Defensive Handgun Fundamentals (Level 1) E-Learning Access - (Retail Value $147)
  • Ceritifcate of Completion

You must complete the E-Learning portion of the training and provide PRP (your instructor) with a copy of the certificate of completion PRIOR to attending the range portion of the course. There are no exceptions to this requirement.

** This course is for new shooters and experienced shooters alike. The more comfortable you are with your weapon, the more you will get out of the course. Though not required, we suggest that new shooters have attended the NRA Basic Pistol or USCCA Basic Handgun courses (or similar ones), prior to taking these courses.

The instructor requires a copy of your driver's license once you register.
