NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting
Basic - Excellent for those not familiar with handguns that are interested in CCW or learning to shoot.
Duration: 5 hours classroom, up to 3 hours range.
Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training ensuring proper shooting technique and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor.
Expectations and Outcomes
Students will have the opportunity to qualify up to four different levels by maintaining shot groupings at various distances. Students will leave with a full understanding and proficiency of handgun shooting.
Basic, NRA Courses
The instructor requires a copy of your driver's license once you register.
A pistol and at least 100 rounds of ammunition are required. More than 100 is recommended. Ammo is available to purchase and handguns are available for rent. Please let the instructor know if renting or purchasing ammo prior to the course.
Bring a lunch.
Bring eye and ear protection (also available for rent).
Closed toed shoes are required.
