Description
This course is at least 10 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets, stationary targets, ready positions, carry positions and range limitations of the different ammunition types. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.
Topics Covered
Classroom time learning about shotgun types, limitations, ammunition, safety rules, and proper use.
Range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets, stationary targets, ready positions, carry positions and range limitations of the different ammunition types.
Expectations and Outcomes
Completion Certificicate awarded.

Required Equipment
: Semi auto, or Pump shotgun
: 150 Rounds of shot, 6,7,7.5, or 8's is acceptable
: Eye and Ear protection
: Chamber Flag
: Closed toed shoes
: Dress appropriatley for the weather
: Drinks, snacks, lunch.
: Note taking material
: Sling is preferred but not manditory
