The grand total with all fees included is $485 = $315 + $100 + $70 (+$65 for each additional caliber)

Our BSIS Exposed Firearms Permit training program is $315 and includes:

  • Exposed Firearms Course.
  • Firearms Manual.
  • Live Scan fingerprinting.
  • Psych Evals (Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16pf)).
  • Range fees (One Caliber).
  • Firearm rentals are available.
  • Semi-Automatic Pistols: (Choice of 9mm, 40sw, 45acp).
  • Revolvers: (38spl / 357mag).
  • Targets & Ammunition (100 Rounds)

Permit for Exposed Firearm Application

To apply for a firearm permit, applicants must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Hold a Security Guard Registration Card (guard card) or show proof of completion of the Part 1 training.
  • Complete a 14-hour course (8 hours classroom, 6 hours range) in the carrying and use of firearms given by a Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS)-certified firearms training instructor at a Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS)-certified training facility.
  • Pass the written and range exams given at the end of the course.
  • Pass the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16pf) Assessment.
  • Be a United States citizen or have permanent legal alien status; and
  • Submit a firearm permit application, pay the application fee, and submit a Live Scan form (which applies to your license or registration) signed           by the Live Scan site operator.

When the course is complete students will submit their application packet to the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) along                      with an application & fee of $100 in the form of a check or money order.

Required documents

When submitting your license application, it's important to have all the required documents to support your eligibility. These documents typically include:

  • An application form can be obtained from the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) website.
  • Proof of identity, such as a valid driver’s license, passport, or state-issued identification card.
  • Proof of age, usually a birth certificate or a valid U.S. passport.
  • Proof of legal residency or citizenship status.
  • Proof of completion of required training courses and certifications, including firearms training and first aid/CPR.
  • Fingerprint cards may be obtained from a Live Scan location approved by the BSIS.
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs.
  • Any additional documents specified by the licensing authority.

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
