Description
The renewal training requirement consists of four hours in the classroom and a two-hour range session. This mandatory requirement cannot be waived. Instructor John Ayala will issue a certificate as proof of training, which must be submitted with your renewal application. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) offers an online portal where you can pay the $75 fee and upload your renewal application and training certificate. If submitted online, your renewed license should be emailed to youl within 30 days. The course includes at least two hours of range training, a shooting qualification of fifty rounds from up to fifteen yards, and achieving a minimum score of 70%.

Note: After completing the Course all students will receive a schedule for range certification. The range date will be on a weekday. If you cannot come to the range on a weekday, please do not take this course. We do not go to the range on weekends.
After you receive your range certification it is your responsibility to hold on to it. If you need a replacement copy the fee is $100.
Your range certification is good for one (1) year. If you do not file it, within the (1) of your date you will have to retake the CCW course over and pay the full class fee.
The range cert will be at Maryland Small Arms. A text will be sent to you for schedule time.

*The student is responsible for application fees, and any other fees required by the Metroplitan Police Department Firearms Registration Section.
*The student will supply his/her own firearm, eye/hearing protection, holster, magazines, and 20 rounds of ammunition. Firearms and ammo are available for those who have not yet purchased a handgun.
Permits are approved at the discretion of the Metroplitan Police Department Firearms Registration Section .
Any students who come to Maryland Small Arms Smelling like marijuana or alcohol will not be certified.
- Clothes you don’t want to get dirty – CLP and grease can ruin fabric
- Flip-flops, sandals or open-toed shoes
- Heavy clothing that weighs you down or overheats you
- Short shorts
- Tank tops or spaghetti strap shirts
- V-neck or low-cut shirts
- Anything that interferes with safety
