This description provides essential details regarding registration, course structure, licensing, and range requirements for the Archangel Armed SPO Course.
Course Title: Archangel Armed SPO Course
Reputation: The premier and most sought-after training academy certification in Washington D.C.
Curriculum: The 40-hour curriculum is designed to provide the confidence and skills required to carry a firearm for a professional career in the security industry.
Role of an SPO: A Special Police Officer is any privately commissioned police officer with full arrest powers within the specific area or premises they are employed to protect. They may be authorized to carry a weapon.
Limited Availability: Spots for each course date are very limited. We strongly encourage early registration to guarantee your place for your preferred workshop date.

The range component is mandatory for the Armed Special Police Officer certification.
Total Training Hours: Armed Special Police Officers are required to complete 40 Hours of Firearms Certification.

Qualification Score: Students must score 43 out of 52 on the range to qualify as an Armed Special Police Officer.
Schedule: After completing the SPO classroom course, all students will receive a schedule for their range certification.
Range Days: Range dates will only be on a weekday.
Transportation: All students must provide their own transportation to the gun range.
If you arrive at the range wearing the following items, you will be sent home:
Flip-flops, crocs, sandals, or open-toed shoes.
Short shorts, tank tops, or spaghetti strap shirts.
V-neck or low-cut shirts.
Heavy clothing that weighs you down or causes overheating.
Clothes you do not want to get dirty (CLP and grease can ruin fabric).
Anything that interferes with safety standards.
Range Certification Copy: After receiving your range certification, it is your responsibility to hold on to it.
Licensing Instructions: After completing the SPO course, all applicants must follow instructions in the email that will be sent to you regarding the final licensing process.

Expectations and Outcomes
After completing our training course Archangel will sponsor the students. This will allow the students to receive their commission (SPO license).
Archangel does not guarantee employment with any of our permits or courses. Our sponsorship is intended to be temporary, as many employers desire their students to have their permits ahead of time despite the fact that a sponsoring employer is required for the application itself. When we receive notification of available contracts, the information is dispersed out to all students equally with the expectation that you will be putting in your own effort to reach out and make contact with prospective employers.

Day Course Schedule:
First Day Arrival: Students must arrive promptly at 8:30 AM to complete mandatory paperwork.
Class Start Time: Class begins at 9:00 AM sharp each day. Please be on time.
Special Police Officer (SPO) Training Course
This 40-hour course is designed specifically for beginner students seeking to become licensed Special Police Officers (SPO).
Course Focus: You will familiarize yourself with the uniform and equipment, de-escalation procedures, customer service standards, and effective interaction with tourists.
Course Goal: Upon successful completion, students will receive the necessary letter to obtain the District of Columbia Special Police Officer Armed License.
Additional Use of Force Training (Separate Fee)
Please note that the Use of Force training for specific equipment is NOT included in the 40-hour SPO course.
Fee for Use of Force: $230
Required For: SPOs who wish to carry a baton, handcuffs, and OC Spray.
Note: The additional hours required for this certification are specified by the certifying organization for the specific brand of equipment the officer will carry.
First Aid, CPR and AED Cert are avaliable for $125. Cert Good for two years

You can now take the DC SPO Pre-assessment course at your own pace from home.

Completion: Upon successful completion, you will be able to download a certificate.

When you set up your account you must put in your email you will receive a certificate after each lesson. The acct will ask for the security agency name. Archangel Training Academy. In a single email, send all certificates to courtney@archangeldc.com by the first day of training. If we do not receive the certificates you will not receive a sponsorship letter.

Requirements

- Be a citizen of the United States;
- Be of good moral character;
1102.2 An applicant shall be ineligible to be commissioned as a special police officer if that applicant has ever been convicted of, pled guilty or nolo contendere to, or been given probation before judgment for any offense in any jurisdiction that would be a crime of violence, as defined in D.C. Official Code § 23-1331(4), if committed in the District of Columbia.
1102.3 If an applicant has ever been convicted of, pled guilty or nolo contendere to, or been given probation before judgment for any offense, other than a crime of violence, as defined in D.C. Official Code § 23-1331(4), in any jurisdiction that would be a felony if committed in the District of Columbia, the applicant shall be ineligible to be commissioned as a special police officer for 10 years following the applicant's release from incarceration and the conclusion of any court-ordered parole, probation, or supervision relating to that offense.
1102.4 If an applicant has ever been convicted of, pled guilty or nolo contendere to, or been given probation before judgment for any offense, other than a crime of violence, as defined in D.C. Official Code §23-1331(4), or traffic offense, in any jurisdiction that would be a misdemeanor if committed in the District of Columbia, the applicant shall be ineligible to be commissioned as a special police officer for 5 years following the applicant's release from incarceration and the conclusion of any court-ordered parole, probation, or supervision relating to that offense.
Dress Code for training Class
Dress on classroom days will be casual wear. Archangel Security Acasemy, prides itself on a professional atmosphere and maintains a positive image that all students present themselves professional.
Dress in casual - This is a great way for students to be more comfortable and relaxed
Slacks/pants – Jeans/shorts up to knees and Wool and cotton slacks are acceptable, provided they are clean and wrinkle free. Inappropriate items include sweat pants, Avoid shorts after Labor day weekend, bib overalls, spandex and other form-fitting pants, and pants that are excessively worn or faded. Loose fitting stirrup pants accompanied by a long top or jacket are acceptable.
Shirts – Casual shirts with collars (for men), polo shirts, sweaters, and turtlenecks are acceptable. Avoid tee shirts after Labor Day weekend, sweatshirts, tank tops, halter tops, shirts with large lettering or logos, and any tops with bare shoulders unless worn under another blouse or jacket. Avoid clothes that are distracting and revealing.
Dresses/skirts – Casual dresses and skirts with modest hemlines are acceptable. Dresses that are sleeveless but do not leave the shoulders bare are acceptable. Mini-skirts and spaghetti strap dresses are considered inappropriate.
Footwear – Items such as loafers, boots, flats, snneakers and leather casual shoes are acceptable. Thongs, sandals, and slippers are considered unacceptable.
Personal Hygiene – Maintaining well-kept hair, good personal hygiene, and general neat grooming is expected. Cologne and perfume should not be used in excess.
Accessories – Jewelry tends to work best when it is simple and classic. Also, shoes, belts, and socks in complementing colors are necessary for completing a professional look.
