Description
The Stop The Bleed course is designed to equip participants with the skills necessary to control life-threatening bleeding in emergency situations. This training is crucial as uncontrolled bleeding is a leading cause of
preventable death in trauma cases. The course is suitable for anyone interested in learning these lifesaving skills, including
students, teachers, and community members.
Topics Covered
- Recognize life-threatening bleeding: Understand the signs and situations that require immediate action.
- Apply direct pressure: Use hands to apply pressure to a wound to control bleeding.
- Pack a wound: Learn how to effectively pack a wound to manage severe bleeding.
- Use a tourniquet: Understand the proper application of a tourniquet to stop bleeding from extremities.
Expectations and Outcomes
The Stop The Bleed initiative aims to prepare bystanders to take action in the critical moments before professional help
arrives. With an average time of 2 to 5 minutes to bleed out from massive hemorrhaging and 7 to 10 minutes for first
responders to arrive, the skills learned in this course can make a life-or-death difference.
