Description

THERE WILL BE NO LIVE AMMUNITION IN THE CLASSROOM!
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and operating a handgun safely.
You will have both classroom and range time, learning the functioning parts of both revolvers and semiautomatic pistols, how handguns work (and how sometimes they don't and what to do), the three critical safety rules of gun handling and the eight other very important safety rules, and the elements that make ammunition function.
You will have hands-on demonstrations and exercises of safely loading, unloading, and making safe handguns of different types, you will learn the four fundamentals of a proper shooting stance or position, and the five shooting fundamentals for confidently and competently shooting a pistol.

Requirements

All you need is a desire to learn and a great attitude!
If you do have your own eye and ear protection, please bring them. Prescription glasses are fine for the shooting range (we will be indoors), or safety glasses from Home Depot or Lowes are great. Foam earplugs from any CVS or Walgreens work well (look for 29-33 NRR [noise reduction rating]), and they're inexpensive.
Hats are always a good idea in the shooting range, and no sandals, flip flops, or open-toed shoes are allowed.
I will provide the firearms and ammunition for the range qualification.
