Description
Once you register, I will contact you to get some information so I can register you on the NRA's website for the courses.
- Sat 12/13/2025 is the Basics of Rifle Shooting (required by NRA to become an Instructor). Includes safe rifle handing, ammunition knowledge, rifle shooting positions, rifle shooting, scoring targets and maintaining a rifle. We finish with the exam.
- Sat 1220/2025 is Basic Instructor Training (B.I.T.) We start with Instructor Qualifications. The BIT course teaches you how to teach NRA courses. The exam will be the end of the BIT CourseThen in the afternoon we start the NRA Rifle Instructor training. Throughout this course you will learn how to actually teach the NRA Basis of Rifle Shooting course.
- Sun 12/21/2025 is the remainder of the Rifle Instructor Course concluding with the exam.
Topics Covered
Basics of Rifle Shooting (required by NRA to become an Instructor). Includes safe rifle handing, ammunition knowledge, rifle shooting positions, rifle shooting, scoring targets and maintaining a rifle. We finish with the exam.
Basic Instructor Training (B.I.T.). The BIT course teaches you how to teach NRA courses. Topics include NRA ethics guide, roles & responsibilities, organizing your course, generating publicity and more. A written exam will be the end of the BIT Course.
NRA Rifle Instructor Training. Throughout this course you will learn how to actually teach the lessons in the NRA Basis of Rifle Shooting Course. You'll also learn teaching safely, instructional methods, what to look for, how to evaluate beginning rifle shooters, how to improve them and conclude with the written exam.
Expectations and Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Basics of Rifle Shooting course you will receive an NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Certificate.
Instructor Candidates who complete and pass all courses get an NRA Rifle Instructor Certificate.
Rental Rifles are limited and "first come, first served".

No seats are guaranteed until they are paid for.
Requirements
Basic requirements are a rifle (.22 is preferred but not required), one magazine, 200 rounds of ammunition, highlighter, pen/paper for notes.
For the instructor manuals you will need two 1 ring binders (1"). You will be provided all printed materials.
Instructor qualification may be with Iron Sights/BUIS, Red Dot/Holographic Sights or a Scope.
10 rounds from each position; Benchrest, prone & Standing (unsupported) for a total of 30 rounds. 2 points given per hit in target circle. 12/20 is minimum passing score per target and 48/60 points is minimum total passing score. (Can't miss more than 4 shots per target and no more than 6 shots total)
