Description
Whether you’re a brand-new gun owner or looking to become one and want real training in understanding pistols, Foundations: Basic Pistol Fundamentals is your option. This is a beginner 101 level class and you’ll leave this class with more than just range time - you’ll walk away with confidence, clarity, and a real foundation for safe, responsible firearm use.
We’ll dig into the mechanics: how pistols work, basic firearms handling and marksmanship, storage options, holster types and other fundamentals of being a responsible gun owner. You will fire at least 3 or more types of Pistols types and ammunition (Based on cost and availability). We’ll correct common gun movie myths, sharpen your knowledge, and get you firing with intention and skill.
While FIRST SHOTS is the baseline recommendation for absolute beginners who have never shot before, FOUNDATIONS: BASIC PISTOL goes a step further for those who really want to understand the form, function, and control of pistols to become much more confident with them.

MUST BE 21 YEARS OR OLDER TO TAKE THIS CLASS. (ANYONE UNDER 21 MUST BE ATTENDING WITH A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN. 18 TO 20 YEAR OLDS CANNOT LEGALLY PURCHASE OR CARRY FIREARMS IN FL).

2.5 hours of classroom instruction + 1 to 1.5 hours of live-fire training on the range.
Pistol Knowledge, Safe gun handling, malfunction types, ammunition knowledge, basics of pistol shooting, Holster types and carry options, storage options, etc.

The Foundations: Basic Pistol Fundamentals class will help to take you from fearful to empowered by fealing more confident in your knowledge of how pistols work an how to handle and shoot them safely. Whether you've reluctantly come to the idea of becoming a firearm owner, or you couldn't wait to own one, this class will give the foundations you need to start your journey as a responsible gun owner.
You can expect to gain the following knowledge:
- The universal firearm safety rules and why they exist.
- How to identify different pistol "actions"
- Understanding how pistols work
- How to select the proper ammunition for a chosen pistol
- How to store a firearm safely
- How to start selecting a hoslter option
- How to use proper breathing, stance, grip, and marksmanship to land shots consistently on target.
- How to load and unload various types of firearms.
- How to use both fixed "iron" sights and red dot sights.

Note: If you have completed First Shots and previously created a profile with Orlando Gun Club, please skip Step 1. An Equality In Arms Liability Waiver must be completed prior to every class.
- Set up a profile with Orlando Gun Club >>> Create an OGC profile and sign their range waivers. ( Once your profile is created, you will be prompted to "Get In Line". Please ignore this for now.)

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

What's Required to Register:
- Valid (not expired) Government Issued Photo ID.
- All attendees must NOT be prohibited from owning, purchasing, or possessing a firearm under State or Federal law and must attest to this at the end of this form.
