Description

The NRA America’s Rifle Challenge (ARC) is an excellent framework for this type of training. It bridges the gap between static bench rest shooting and dynamic action sports, making it perfect for getting everyday shooters comfortable with the AR-15 platform.

Because the ARC focuses on practical, defensive, and positional shooting using standard general-purpose rifles, a foundational training event needs to balance baseline rifle mechanics with the functional skills they will face in an actual match (such as using barricades, managing time limits, and transitioning positions).

Here is a structured overview of the core mechanical focus areas and a sample Level 1 developmental progression to build into your training plan.

Why Attend?

The America’s Rifle Challenge bridges the gap between static target shooting and dynamic action sports. It is designed around general-purpose, practical rifles—meaning you don’t need an expensive, custom race gun to participate. If you want to learn how to drive your rifle correctly, build real-world shooting stability, and test your skills in a fun, structured environment, this course is for you.

  •

Course Structure:

  • Phase 1: 25-Yard Technical Prep. We will utilize precision, reduced-size targets scaled perfectly to simulate distant sight pictures. Here, we iron out mechanical errors, refine trigger control, and build your positional foundations where every detail is magnified.
  • Phase 2: 100-Yard Functional Course. Put your new skills to the test at full distance. You will run through a simulated ARC course of fire, transitioning through multiple positions and utilizing barricades against the clock.

Expectations and Outcomes

What You Will Master:

  • The Anatomy of Accuracy: Verify your zero and master height-over-bore (understanding exactly where your bullet impacts at close range versus distance).
  • Positional Stability: Learn the skeletal mechanics to shoot rock-steady from prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing positions—no bench required.
  • Barricade Mechanics: Learn how to properly use environmental barriers and props to stabilize your rifle without shifting your point of impact.
  • Efficient Gun Handling: Master safe, smooth transitions, safety manipulation, and magazine changes under a shot timer.
