Greetings Concealed Carry Students!

Thank you for signing up for Firearm Mentor's concealed carry class.

Here is what you will need to bring to class:

  1. Your FOID card (or driver's license, if you have not received the FOID in the mail).
  2. Two outer garments (a pullover/sweatshirt and an open front button down shirt or jacket).  We will be learning to draw a firearm from concealment while wearing those two types of clothing.
  3. A firearm and holster (IF OWNED).  Please do not buy a gun and holster specifically for class.  I have plenty for students to use and train with.  Also, by spending time together, I can help you pick a firearm that is right for you, following the class, and direct you to dealers with the best pricing and service.
  4. A belt.  Since we will be drawing a firearm from concealment, you will need a belt as a platform for a holster.
There will be two vendors who will come to class:

  • Above Biometrics:  Above Biometrics offers fingerprinting services ($65) and application processing ($40) at additional fees, payable to them.
  • U.S. Law Shield:  U.S. Law Shield will present their program of concealed carry prepaid legal, in case you get involved in a self defense incident.

These two services are optional, and I bring in these experts as a service to you.  If you use their services, they will collect payments.

If you want to get a "head start" on the items you should buy, feel free to purchase through the links provided on my webpage, New Gun Owners FYP (For You Page).  You do not need additional eye protection if you wear glasses.

On Day 2, the shooting portion will be conducted one at a time.  Firearm rentals and ammunition for the class only can be added on for $15.  The rental gun is a Glock 44 in .22 lr.

I realize that was A LOT of information.  If you haven't checked out my website (, please do so.  After class is over, I will email you a summary of the laws and a copy of an e-book that I wrote, entitled:  What you need to know to handle a handgun (A $50 value).

In the meantime, please email me with any firearms or legal related questions.  I am always available.

I look forward to seeing you at the class.
