Description

  • Duration: A minimum of 2 hours, all conducted in-person (no online components) with the instructor present.

  • Instructor: Must be a Verified Instructor, certified through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and listed by the county sheriff

  • Open-book format

  • Must score at least 80% to pass

    Live-Fire Qualification

    • Fire a minimum of 50 rounds

    • Achieve at least 70% accuracy on the range

🎯 Expectations and Outcomes

By the end of your CCW Refresher Course, you will have:

? Reviewed Updated Colorado Laws

  • Stay informed on recent changes to Colorado and federal firearm laws, use-of-force statutes, and legal responsibilities for concealed carry permit holders.

? Refreshed Firearm Safety Knowledge

  • Reinforced proper firearm handling, storage, transportation, and safety practices.

? Completed a Live-Fire Qualification

  • Fired a minimum of 50 rounds and demonstrated safe, accurate shooting with a required passing score of 70% accuracy.

? Successfully Completed a Written Exam

  • Taken a written open-book test on the legal and safety topics covered in class with a required score of 80% or higher.

? Prepared for Permit Renewal

  • You will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of class, which satisfies the Colorado training requirement for your CCW permit renewal.

  • This certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of class and must be submitted to your county sheriff’s office as part of your renewal application.

? Gained Confidence and Clarity

  • Leave class with a stronger understanding of your rights, responsibilities, and safe carry practices.

? Important Reminder:
The Certificate of Completion from this course is only valid for renewal of an existing Colorado concealed handgun permit. It cannot be used for initial permit applications.

Documentation Requirements – Please Read Carefully

To help ensure a smooth class, please complete the following before your refresher course:


? Bring to Class:

  • Your current Colorado CCW permit (expired or current)

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License, Passport, or State ID)

  • Firearm for qualification

  • Minimum 50 rounds of ammunition

  • Eye & ear protection

  • Signed waivers (see below)


? Email the Following to Me (at least 48 hours before class):

  • Full legal name (as shown on your driver’s license)

  • Current home address

  • Date of birth

  • Phone number

  • Clear photo or scan of your CCW permit

  • Any special needs or equipment requests

? Waivers:

  • You will receive both the Range Waiver (online link) and FTC Waiver (PDF). Please complete and bring them to class.

Requirements

Firearm

  • Semi-automatic handgun or revolver

  • Firearm MUST arrive unloaded and inside a case

  • Firearm must be in safe, working condition

  • No black powder or micro pocket pistols under .380 caliber

  • Contact me in advance if you need to borrow a firearm

Ammunition

  • 50 rounds of factory ammunition minimum (extra ammo optional)

  • No reloads or handloads

Magazines / Speedloaders

  • Bring at least 2 magazines (semi-auto) or 2 speedloaders (revolver) if available

Eye & Ear Protection

  • ANSI-rated eye protection

  • Hearing protection (electronic muffs recommended)

Clothing & Footwear

  • Closed-toe shoes required

  • High-neck shirt or closed collar recommended

  • Ball cap suggested

  • Dress for the weather if outdoors

 

 

  • Firearms MUST arrive unloaded and in a case.

  • Follow all safety rules and instructor commands at all times.

 

 

  • Written exam (open book, minimum score 80%)

  • Live-fire qualification (minimum 50 rounds, 70% accuracy required)

  • Full attendance of the 2-hour refresher course
