Description

This course is designed for the average American citizen who has demonstrated a basic level of firearms proficiency and safety. It is intended for those who have successfully completed Handgun 102, where foundational skills such as drawing and engaging from a belt-mounted holster were introduced.

Building upon the core concepts taught in Handgun 101 and Handgun 102, this course introduces increased stress through timed drills and practical marksmanship exercises to further develop and refine the student's confidence, efficiency, and accuracy under pressure.

Students will engage in a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on drills, and live-fire exercises. The primary objective is to reinforce safe and effective deployment of a handgun from an outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster while delivering accurate, timely rounds on target in high-stress scenarios.

Note: This is not a concealed carry (CCW) course. All training is conducted from the OWB/Duty Belt position. This format enables students to build incremental proficiency in core shooting fundamentals without the added complexity of concealment-based draw techniques.

Expectations and Outcomes

This advanced handgun course is designed for the average American citizen who has demonstrated basic firearms proficiency and safety, typically by completing Handgun 102. Building upon the skills learned in Handgun 101 and 102, students will advance their ability to deploy a handgun from an outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster under increased stress. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on drills, and live-fire range exercises, students will develop greater confidence, speed, and accuracy through timed drills and practical marksmanship scenarios. Key skills include advanced sight picture and target acquisition techniques, recoil management, critical shot placement, and responding to malfunctions with immediate and remedial action drills—all while maintaining strong situational awareness. The focus is on applying marksmanship fundamentals in realistic, high-pressure environments to reinforce safe, effective handgun use. This is not a concealed carry course; all training is conducted from an OWB or duty-style holster to maintain a clear focus on technical shooting skills and tactical readiness.
