Description
Part Two of Countering the Mass Shooter Threat builds upon the powerful evidence and insights uncovered in Part One. With a firm understanding of the data, this section focuses on practical, proven strategies to deter, disrupt, and respond effectively to mass violence.
The solutions presented are comprehensive and actionable — designed to:
Deter potential attackers before they strike.
Disrupt and stop an active attack as early as possible.
Save lives through decisive action and immediate medical response after the threat has ended.
Participants will learn to develop and implement tailored safety plans for schools, houses of worship, and workplaces, while gaining skills to respond confidently if tragedy strikes.
Course Overview
This portion of the course translates research into readiness. Students will explore the behavioral warning signs of potential attackers, learn how to design an effective Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), and understand environment-specific security considerations for both educational and faith-based settings.
Realistic response models such as the Run, Hide, Fight methodology are analyzed and practiced conceptually, including discussion on when and how defensive action — including the lawful use of a firearm — may be justified.
Finally, the course emphasizes life-saving medical interventions through simple, effective trauma care techniques anyone can perform with minimal equipment.
Whether you agree with every recommendation or not, you’ll leave Part Two with valuable knowledge — from creating an actionable EOP to crafting improvised tourniquets and chest seals when seconds count.
Key Learning Objectives
By the end of Part Two, students will:
