Description
Children’s and Family Handgun Range Session is the live-fire component of the Children’s and Family training series. This instructor-supervised range session gives students the opportunity to apply the safety knowledge, handgun familiarization, dry-fire skills, and shooting fundamentals developed throughout the prerequisite courses.
The session consists of a 50-round structured shooting series focused on the fundamentals of safe and consistent handgun shooting. Instruction emphasizes:
- Proper stance and body position
- Safe and consistent grip
- Sight alignment and sight picture
- Trigger control
- Breathing and follow-through
- Safe loading and unloading
- Following range commands
- Proper range etiquette and firearm handling
- Maintaining safe muzzle and trigger awareness
Students will work through instructor-led exercises designed to reinforce the fundamentals while gaining experience in a controlled live-fire environment. The emphasis is on safety, fundamentals, confidence, and responsible firearm handling, rather than speed or defensive tactics.
Firearms: An approved training firearm may be provided by Frogbones, subject to availability and instructor approval.
Included: Targets and eye and ear protection are included in the course price and will be provided as needed.
Ammunition: Ammunition is not included in the course price. Students are responsible for providing or purchasing the ammunition required for the 50-round session.
This course is intended for students who have completed the required Children’s and Family prerequisite courses and are ready to apply those skills during supervised live-fire training.

Documentation Requirements
For the Children’s and Family Handgun Range Session, Frogbones requires the accompanying adult to be the student’s parent or legal guardian.
The accompanying adult must be:
- The student’s biological or adoptive parent, or
- The student’s court-appointed legal guardian or legal custodian.
Siblings, grandparents, other relatives, family friends, babysitters, or other adults may not serve as the required chaperone unless they are the student’s legally recognized guardian or legal custodian.
If the accompanying adult is acting as the student’s legal guardian or legal custodian, official documentation establishing that legal relationship must be presented before the student will be permitted onto the range.
Documentation Requirement
The required documentation must clearly establish the adult’s legal authority to act as the student’s guardian or legal custodian. If the required documentation cannot be provided when requested, the adult will not be permitted to serve as the student’s chaperone and the student will not be permitted to participate in the range session.
No exceptions will be made to this policy.
This is an additional Frogbones safety and supervision requirement and does not replace any requirements imposed by applicable federal or Florida law. Florida law specifically addresses supervision and parental/guardian consent for minors participating in lawful recreational shooting activities.
Requirements
