Description

The Holster Draw Fundamentals course introduces students to the essential skills and safety practices required to draw a handgun from a holster and safely engage targets on the range. This session is offered at the request of the student for individuals who wish to develop or improve their holster-draw skills through instructor-led training and supervised live-fire practice.

Students will learn the fundamentals of holster selection, proper equipment setup, safe firearm presentation, grip establishment, trigger discipline, and reholstering procedures. Emphasis is placed on developing a consistent, controlled draw stroke while maintaining muzzle awareness, trigger-finger discipline, and safe firearm handling throughout the process.

This course accommodates both inside-the-waistband (IWB) and outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster configurations. Students may request training with either setup, subject to instructor approval and equipment suitability.

Instruction is tailored to the student's experience level, training goals, and identified areas for improvement. The objective is to build confidence, reinforce safe habits, and establish a solid foundation for continued handgun training.

Students wishing to fire from an inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster must demonstrate IWB proficiency. Successful IWB proficiency allows the student to fire independently from either an IWB or outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster. Students tested and approved using an OWB holster only will be authorized for OWB firing only, and this restriction will be clearly noted on their proficiency card.

AT THE SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION OF THIS COURSE STUDENTS WILL GET A RANGE HOLSTER DRAW CARD VALID FOR 1 YEAR

NONMEMBER RENEWAL $25

Session Type: Student-requested training session. Scheduling and instruction are arranged based on the student's needs and instructor availability.
