Description

The Holster Draw Renewal — Proficiency Check is a student-requested session designed for individuals who have previously completed holster-draw training and wish to refresh their skills and demonstrate continued proficiency. This session focuses on evaluating safe firearm handling, holster presentation, magazine changes, and reholstering procedures through instructor observation and supervised live-fire practice.

Students may complete the proficiency check using an approved inside-the-waistband (IWB) or outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster configuration. The instructor will assess the student's ability to consistently apply established safety principles and perform the fundamental skills associated with drawing from a holster and conducting magazine changes.

Instruction will focus primarily on evaluating existing skills, identifying areas for improvement, and providing corrective feedback as needed. Additional instruction may be provided if deficiencies are identified. This session is intended as a proficiency check and skills refresher rather than a full introductory
course.

Students wishing to fire from an inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster must demonstrate IWB proficiency. Successful IWB proficiency allows the student to fire independently from either an IWB or outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster. Students tested and approved using an OWB holster only will be authorized for OWB firing only, and this restriction will be clearly noted on their proficiency card.

Session Type: Student-requested renewal and proficiency assessment.
