Description

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. It is an instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. 

Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. This course will also have a learning module overview on concealed-carry principles, equipment, and legal responsibilites surrounding concealed-carry. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, the USCCA Guide - Concealed Carry Beginner's Crash Course: What Every Armed Citizen Must Know About Carrying A Concealed Firearm, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

Expectations and Outcomes

The first 10 students to sign up for the course will receive a complete pistol/rifle cleaning kit ($100 Value). Documentation Requirements

Students under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or the legal guardian must also sign the course waiver on behalf of the student prior ro start of the course.

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

Requirements

Everything needed for the course will be provided to the student. Feel free to bring your own firearm/ammunition. If you bring your own firearm, please leave it in your car until the classroom coursework is completed. ABSOLUTELY NO FIREARM OR LIVE AMMUNITION WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE CLASSROOM!

BRING YOUR LUNCH TO CLASS. We will have 30 minutes for lunch. The closest places from the range to get food is Athens (2 miles away), Melrose Square (3 miles away) or Princeton (6 miles away), so there will not be sufficient time to get food away from the range. Drink & snack machines will be available at the range.
