Terminal Performance Objective: By the end of this course, the Instructor candidate(s) should possess the knowledge to teach students the NAAGA Basic Pistol course curriculum to standard.
Enabling Performance Objective: The Instructor Candidate(s) will
1. Acclimate Students to the Classroom and Range Environment
2. Educate Students on the Topics of Safety, Responsibility, and Accountability.
3. Discuss the Types of Pistol Selection and Operations.
4. Understand the Fundamentals of Marksmanship
5. Range Exercise (Life-Fire)
6. Legal parameters of Gun Ownership and Self Defense
7. Take a written exam to test the knowledge learned.
8. Discuss future Training Roadmap.

Requirements
NAAGA BASIC PISTOL INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS & PRE-CHECKLIST
- You must be a current NAAGA member and must remain current during your tenure as a NAAGA instructor.
- You must be at least 21 years old before you attend the instructor certification course.
- You must fill out the NAAGA Firearms Instructor application in its entirety.
- You must have taken the NAAGA Basic Pistol Course. If not, you will be required to schedule, take, and pass the Basic Pistol Course at level 4 at minimum before taking the NAAGA Instructor Course. The Basic Pistol Course may only be taken with an active NAAGA firearms instructor. [NOTE: During the NAAGA Instructor Course we will not teach you how to shoot. You must already be prepared and proficient in the NAAGA Basic Pistol Instructor Course of Fire and you must provide your NAAGA Basic Pistol Course Certificate with your application.]
To maintain your NAAGA Certified Basic Pistol or Concealed Carry Instructor active status, all 3 requirements below must be met within one year from the date of your NAAGA Firearms Instructor certification:
- You must obtain Firearms Instructor Insurance (at least a $1,000,000 policy of liability) during your tenure as a NAAGA Firearms Instructor.
- You must become a Range Safety Officer (RSO) certified with the NRA, USCCA, or a reputable company
- You must obtain all of the following certifications and keep them current during your tenure as a NAAGA Firearms Instructor: First Aid, CPR/AED, and Stop the Bleed.
To maintain your NAAGA Certified Basic Pistol or Concealed Carry Instructor active status. The requirements below must be met within two years of your NAAGA Firearms Instructor certification:
- You must teach at least 20 students the (NAAGA Basic Pistol Course or NAAGA Concealed Carry Course) every two years during your tenure as a NAAGA Firearms Instructor. Your class rosters must be submitted upon completion and will be verified.
- Range Fee: $40 ($20) per day (cash only)
- Handgun (& backup gun)
- Kydex holster (no serpas allowed)
- 500 rounds of ammunition
- eye and ear protection
- minimum of 3 magazine holders
