About Tame the Trigger
Confidence isn’t given—it’s trained. As a certified firearm instructor, I help students turn uncertainty into control and safety into second nature. Safety, skill, and self-assurance: that’s what every person deserves to carry.
As I’ve aged and (hopefully) gotten wiser, I’ve realized two things: I can’t run as fast as I used to, and the world isn’t quite the one I grew up in. Time has a way of teaching what youth won’t—the world changes, and we have to change with it. I may not move like I once did, but I’ve learned something far more valuable: how to stay prepared, aware, and empowered.
The goal isn’t fear—it’s confidence. I guide new students through responsible firearm training designed to replace anxiety with skill and control. Respect for the firearm is essential, and safety is always taught first. I enjoy working with each student, from the very first-time shooter to the advanced student. Building a strong foundation in the fundamentals makes learning not only effective but genuinely fun. There’s nothing better than watching that moment when it all clicks—the lightbulb turns on, confidence takes over, and skill starts to shine.
No one should have to live in fear. I learned that lesson the hard way. Even though I began shooting as a teenager and eventually earned my concealed carry permit, I didn’t realize my skills weren’t truly suitable for self-defense until it was almost too late. One day, an aggressive man tried to break into my home just seconds after I had walked in and locked the door.
For a while, I lived with that fear—but eventually, I made a choice: I wasn’t going to let someone else decide how I lived. That moment became the catalyst that pushed me to train harder, learn more, and eventually become a certified instructor.
Since then, I’ve trained with more than fifty instructors across the country, including several with world-class titles. In early 2025, I began competing in 3-Gun competitions, which gave me a new appreciation for mastering the pistol, rifle, and shotgun platforms. Today, I not only teach firearm skills but also lead workshops and seminars on Carrying Confidently, Road Rage and De-escalation, Situational Awareness, Home Defense Planning, Church Safety, and more.
I find it equally, if not more, important to train the mind as well as the body. Physical skills can be practiced on the range, but mindset—the ability to stay calm, think clearly, and respond decisively—is what truly determines the outcome in a critical moment.
Whether you are just getting started or building on your skills, continue training your mind and body and keep moving forward! Nobody stays in one place, shooting is a perishable skill. If you are not progressing, you are regressing.
I train a lot of women-only classes and have a passion for helping women to feel empowered and enjoy offering all women training environments where women feel free to ask as many questions as they want, not feel intimidated by men being in the class, and have a feeling of security in training with other women and meeting new like-minded friends.
Never touched a gun- Perfect, we don't have to correct any bad habits you might have picked up otherwise
Nervous- Also good, it's normal to be a little nervous, respect for tools should be gained through knowledge and understanding
Curious- Welcome, make that first experience a memorable one. If you had a first experience that left you frightened, I have worked with students just like you who gave it that second chance and had a much better, controlled experience.
