Description
Lake Garnett Sporting Club – Defensive Handgun Match
This is a club-level handgun competition built around one simple idea:
This match is designed for shooters who want to test and improve real-world handgun skills—not just shoot fast.
Whether you carry daily, keep a handgun for home defense, or simply want structured practice, this event provides a safe, organized environment to push your abilities.
4 structured stages
IDPA targets with Vickers scoring
Accuracy matters
Every shot has accountability
Surrender start position on all stages
Consistent, fair, and easy to supervise
Revolver and semi-auto friendly
Stages designed to keep things practical and inclusive
This is not a “run and gun” game match.
This is structured practice under light pressure, with emphasis on:
Safe gun handling
Efficient draw and presentation
Shot accountability
Target transitions
Reload consistency
If you’re new to competition or defensive shooting:
You are absolutely welcome here
You may start from low ready if you’re not comfortable drawing from a holster
The goal is learning—not pressure
(Note: Low ready participants will not be eligible for prize table items.)
Belt holsters only (AIWB or strong-side)
No shoulder, cross-draw, or small-of-back holsters
Concealed carry and duty-style gear encouraged
(Shooters not using concealment or an active retention holster will have a 2-second adjustment applied to their total time.)
This is a cold range event.
Firearms are handled only on the firing line under RO control
A loading table (ammo only) will be provided
All shooters are expected to follow the Four Rules of Firearm Safety at all times
$10 entry fee
