Description

Instructor Led Only Training: The Instructor Led Only takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment. This course may be completed in a single day format or over several days with smaller blocks of instruction. Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor.

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course is available in a variety of formats, including traditional instructor-led courses and blended learning versions.

Topics Covered

Gun safety: Rules for handling and storing firearms
Pistol operation: How to use revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
Ammunition: Selecting and understanding ammunition
Shooting fundamentals: Basic shooting techniques and positions
Pistol maintenance: How to inspect and maintain a pistol
Marksmanship: How to improve shooting accuracy
Shooting range safety: How to stay safe at the shooting range
Live fire training: Shooting under the supervision of an NRA-certified instructor

Expectations and Outcomes

Nationally standardized shooting qualification: A qualification that students must pass to complete the course

Students who successfully complete the course receive a course completion certificate and the NRA guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting.

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course is available in a variety of formats, including traditional instructor-led courses, self-study modules, and blended learning versions.

Documentation Requirements

STATE ISSUED ID

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

Requirements

Students will need - for the classroom & range - IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN GUN (PISTOL) BRING IT TO CLASS (.22cal, .380 or 9MM caliber recommended) IF NOT WE WILL SUPPLY ONE ( if you use our guns, you must buy our ammo), 2 magazines or speed-loaders, long pants, 100 rounds of ammunition, eye & hearing protection, and a positive attitude! Firearms should be cased.

** MUST Bring (from previous attended courses - if you have them)! Pen and Pad to take notes
