About North Gate Armory

About North Gate Armory

The North Gate Armory was started out of a passion for all things firearm and gear related. Anthony Orosco founded The North Gate Armory in 2021 after his wife and friends encouraged him to start firearm instruction as many complimented him on his easy teaching style, his friendly disposition and his ability to take a first time shooter and make them feel safe and confident in the handling of their firearm.

MOTIVE

Anthony takes a Biblical approach to his life and instruction in that we are to be gentle and meek but also we are commanded to be protectors, "Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause"  (Isaiah 1:17).   Anthony's company motto is, "Making Citizen's Capable!"

TRAINING

For several years Anthony has taken instruction from the industry's top firearm instructors like Karl Erickson (Tactical Rifleman), John 'Shrek' McPhee (SOB Tactical), Kyle Defoor (Defoor Proformance), Jason Pike (Frogman Tactical) David Acosta (Allegiance Defense Solutions), Kris Paranto (Battleline Tactical), Shawn 'Slick' Thornton (Paraclete Consulting), Scott Jedinski (Modern Samurai Project) and Matthew Little (Greybeard Actual) and Aaron Barruga (Guerrilla Approach).

Anthony started Ko Ju Kan Jujitsu Academy in Late 1990's located in San Antonio, Texas. He was under Shihan Lee Goodridge and earned his black belt in Sho Sho Ryu Aikibujitsu. He now takes that expereince in martial arts and imparts it in his firearms instruction, which is also a form of martial arts. In 2019 Anthony was training under Sergeant Major (Retired) Karl Erickson (aka The Tactical Rifleman on YouTube) and Karl asked Anthony to be his Texas instructor. Anthony now helps cordinate and instruct all Tactical Rifleman Texas courses. Click here for more information on Tactical Rifleman courses.

North Gate Armory (NGA) offers classes geared to first time shooters who may not own a firearm yet as well as shooters looking to get away from the static line shooting offered at most gun ranges to train in drills/scenarios geared more for self-defense. Below is a testimony from a fellow firearms instructor.

TESTIMONIAL

Hello,

I am excited to recommend Anthony Orosco as an exceptional firearms instructor. I worked alongside Anthony for more than 4 years and have found him to be a natural at his craft.

As Colleagues, we worked on courses that challenged client skill sets and improved the comfort and competence of those we trained. Specifically, we developed shooter’s ability to perform under stress and problem solve to increase their effectiveness while operating the handgun and rifle for defense.

Anthony can see details that other instructors would miss, then he would clearly and effectively communicate his observations to the client providing a strong, evidence based, solution to improve their skill sets.

I have personally seen him identify the need to slightly shift a grip, or a trigger finger, to its proper position for a seasoned shooter which immediately improved their accuracy and speed. In that same course, I watched as he coached a new shooter in the basics of trigger control to tune the clients mind and hand resulting in a clear improvement to the client’s confidence.

If you need a true teacher that has the skills and ability to identify, communicate, and improve your shooting, regardless of your experience level, you need to collaborate with him.

  • Importance Of Angles

In this video I am describing and demonstrating the importance of angles and movement while shooting.

  • Efficient Drills

Save ammo, save money by working on specific areas of your shooting. Here I demonstrate a drill I call the 3/6. You will fire 3 rounds with your dominate hand then fire 6 rounds with your non-dominate hand.
