Description

NRA Basic Pistol Course

Learn the fundamentals of safe, confident handgun ownership in this nationally recognized training. This course covers everything from firearm safety rules, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, and shooting fundamentals, to proper cleaning and safe storage. Students will gain both classroom instruction and live-fire range experience, guided by certified NRA instructors Angela and Dale Humphries.

 

Whether you are brand new to firearms or looking to strengthen your foundational skills, this class provides the knowledge and hands-on practice to help you handle a pistol responsibly and effectively. Upon successful completion, participants receive an official NRA certificate, recognized nationwide.

What You Can Expect:

Requirements

  • This is a “rain or shine” event – dress appropriately!
  • A reliable handgun in proper working order
  • 50 rounds of factory-made ammunition in the correct caliber for your firearm 
  • Eye protection (ANSI-rated shooting glasses recommended)
  • Ear protection (muffs or electronic preferred)
  • A hat with a bill/visor to shield your face from brass
  • Closed-toe shoes and appropriate range clothing 
  • Lunch, water, and snacks (we’ll have a lunch break during class)
  • Pen and notebook for classroom notes (optional)
  • If you do not have any of these items, please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements for you to rent them.
  • Please do not purchase a firearm specifically for this class.
