Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to get an Arizona CCW permit?
The Arizona Department of Public Safety currently charges $60 for a new Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit application. This fee is paid directly to AZDPS and is separate from the cost of your P2 Firearms Training CCW class. Additional costs may include firearms training, fingerprints, ammunition, and range fees depending on your course and application needs. AZDPS fees are subject to change.
Do I need experience with firearms to take a class?
No. P2 Firearms Training welcomes beginners and experienced shooters. Courses are designed to provide safe, professional instruction based on your experience level.
Do I need to own a firearm before taking a class?
Not necessarily. Some classes may allow students to participate without owning a firearm. Contact P2 Firearms Training before registering if you need information about firearm options.
What should I bring to class?
Required equipment varies by course. Students will receive class-specific instructions before training. Live-fire classes may require a firearm, ammunition, eye protection, hearing protection, closed-toe shoes, and appropriate clothing.
How much ammunition will I need?
Ammunition requirements vary depending on the class. The required round count will be listed in the course description or provided before class.
Can I bring my own firearm?
Yes, when appropriate for the course. Your firearm must be in safe working condition and suitable for the training being conducted. P2 Firearms Training reserves the right to prohibit the use of any firearm or equipment considered unsafe.
Can I use my own ammunition?
Yes, unless otherwise specified for your class. Ammunition must be the correct caliber for your firearm, factory-manufactured, and comply with all range requirements. Steel-core, steel-cased, armor-piercing, tracer, incendiary, or other prohibited ammunition is not allowed. Students are responsible for bringing the required amount of approved ammunition for their course.
Can I take a class if I have never fired a handgun?
Absolutely. New shooters are encouraged to start with a beginner firearms course before progressing to more advanced training.
Does Arizona require a CCW permit to carry concealed?
Arizona generally allows individuals who are at least 21 years old and legally permitted to possess a firearm to carry concealed without an Arizona CCW permit. Students are responsible for understanding and following all applicable laws.
Why should I get an Arizona CCW permit if Arizona is a permitless-carry state?
An Arizona CCW permit may provide additional benefits, including recognition in certain other states and other privileges under Arizona law. Reciprocity and firearm laws can change, so students should verify current laws before traveling.

Yes. P2 Firearms Training offers Arizona CCW training designed to provide students with firearms safety education, responsible firearm ownership information, and applicable Arizona concealed-carry information.
Does completing the class guarantee that I will receive an Arizona CCW permit?

Do you provide firearms for students?
Firearm availability varies by course. Contact P2 Firearms Training before class if you do not own a firearm or need to discuss available options.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the training environment. For live-fire training, closed-toe shoes and a shirt with a reasonably high neckline are strongly recommended. Avoid clothing that could allow hot brass to become trapped against the skin.
