PREREQUISITE -
- A zeroed rifle!
NOTE:
This is not an entry level rifle class. If you have not had an entry level rifle class before, you are strongly encouraged to do so prior to this class.
Purpose
The purpose of this class is to to teach you the necessary tactics and skills for the Patriot Designated Marksman.
MOA - what it is and why you need to know all about it.
Hasty ambushes.
Deliberate ambushes.
Flanking maneuvers.
Targets of opportunity.
Shooting positions - standing, kneeling, prone, and variations.
Use of rucksack and nature for improvised rifle rests.
How to make and use a shooting sock.
There will also be a specialized and pertinent shooting evaluation.
Please bring:
* your rifle (we will have a limited number of rentals available) - AR15 preferred. AR10 & semi-auto .308 are also permitted - but bring a backup. This is not a suitable class for a bolt-action rifle.
* iron sights, red dots, scopes all acceptable. Scopes preferred.
* 2 or more mags (we will have a limited number of loaners again) for mag fed rifles.
* 150 rounds of ammo - same brand / same type.
* rucksack.
* no green tip or armor piercing ammo. We will be shooting steel targets.
* notepad & pen
* eye protection & ear protection.
* WATER!
Suggested materials -
* creature comforts. We will be outside much of the day. Sunscreen, bug spray, lawn chairs, food.
Notes on Participation
Under 18 welcome with participating parent / guardian.
Participation is only open to legal, US Citizens or permanent residents (green card holders) per ITAR (22 CFR §§120-130)
Participation by "prohibited persons" (ie convicted felons) is not permitted.
Notes on Ammunition -
AR15 shooters - AVOID Steel cased ammunition.
AK shooters - USE Steel cased ammunition.
Hand loaded ammunition is best left at home.
Notes on gear
* If your rifle/handgun has an "el-cheapo" optic (MSRP of $100 or less), expect that optic to not survive the class. If you do not have backup sights - you will need to bring a spare. Rentals may be available.
* If your rifle/handgun is experiencing mechanical issues (other than feeding issues on steel cased or hand loaded ammo) or other safety issues - your rifle/handgun will be removed from the line. You will need a spare. Rentals may be available.
Rentals
* If you need to rent a rifle for this class, they are available.
* Please contact us immediately if you need to rent a gun. You will need to make that purchase using the link below and you will need to pass a background check to ensure that you are not a prohibited person.
* If you purchase a ticket + rental and do not submit to a background check, you will not be allowed to shoot and you will NOT receive a refund.
* If you do not pass the background check, there will NOT be a refund.
* If your handgun or rifle goes down or is removed from the line for safety reasons and you do not have a spare, you may rent a handgun or rifle for the remainder of the day. Full day rental fee applies.
* Hand loads are not permitted with rentals. Steel cased ammo is not permitted with rentals.
Refunds & exchanges:
* Tuition sale is final and is a commitment to train with Patriot Training at the date and time scheduled.
* In the unlikely event we have to cancel a class, refunds and exchanges will be offered.
* We do not offer refunds or transfers to students who cancel or fail to show up for class.
* This policy is firm and there will be no exceptions.

Expectations and Outcomes
The participant will know what skills and tactics to practice to increase their abilities as a Patriot Designated Rifleman.
Participants who demonstrate proper knowledge, skills, and attitude will receive a certificate of completion at the end of class. Participants who do not stay for the whole class will not receive this certificate.
There will be a shooting evaluation. Shooters who shoot to the Expert level score, as well as score expert on the written evaluation will earn a Designated Rifleman patch.

Documentation Requirements
You must certify that:
1. You have attended an entry level rifle class (marksmanship or tactical) - please indicate the name of the class and the academy.
2. You will nbe bringing a zeroed, and accurized rifle as described in the course description. As well as will be bringing quality ammunition.
Requirements
RIFLE REQUIREMENT:
Accurized AR15, or accurized AR10, or similar*, or Accurized Bolt action rifle
* Please contact us with your rifle of choice if it is not listed here, to make sure it will be acceptable, prior to purchase of ticket.*
** Accurized = Heavy Barrel (or fluted barrel) + Free floated + Match grade trigger. **
*** Bolt-Action Warning: Do not bring a lightweight bolt-action rifle designed for casual hunting. These rifles are not designed to shoot accurately enough, nor hold up in this sort of class. This sort of rifle will fail you and there may not be rentals available. ***
OPTIC REQUIREMENTS
Must be capable of at least 4x magnification. Prefer 6x, 8x, or 10x.
BDC or Mil Dot reticle.
AMMUNITION REQUIREMENTS
250 rounds
.223 / 5.56: 69 grain, 75 grain, or 77 grain match grade
.308: 165 grain or heavier match grade
** we will be shooting steel. Green tip or other armor piercing ammo is prohibited.**
REQUIRED MATERIALS
Notepad and pen
Enough magazines to carry 50 rounds per drill.
Shooting mat / tarp – also, elbow pads are strongly recommended.
Rucksack (backpack)
Bipod
Eye and ear protection
Creature comforts: sunscreen, food, water, rain gear, etc.

Fitness Level Required
You do not need to be "Captain America" to take this class. We will be walking about 2 miles each day, and sometimes a few hundred yards at a time. We will be getting in and out of prone and field positions for many drills. This is not a bench shooting class.
