Description
The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course is designed to introduce students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. This comprehensive course covers firearm safety rules, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, and proper cleaning and storage of firearms.
Students will learn both in the classroom and on the range, gaining hands-on experience with safe handling, loading/unloading, and live-fire exercises under the guidance of a certified NRA instructor. Upon successful completion, students will have the confidence and foundational skills needed to safely handle and operate a pistol, as well as an NRA certificate of completion.
This course is perfect for new shooters, individuals considering firearm ownership, or those seeking structured training to build their skills and confidence with handguns.

Course Requirements:
Participants are required to bring the following:
A reliable handgun (semi-automatic or revolver) in good working condition
100–150 rounds of factory-loaded ammunition (no reloads)
Proper eye and ear protection (ANSI-rated)
Baseball cap or brimmed hat for range safety (Optional)
Closed-toe shoes and appropriate range attire
Valid government-issued photo ID
Any state or local licenses/permits as required by law or range policy
Note: Firearms and equipment may be available for rental upon request. Students must be legally able to own and possess a firearm in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
