Description

This class covers all required topics to qualify for the DPS LTC.   We cover firearm safety and use, Laws related to carrying a firearm, use of force, use of lethal force, Safe Storage, Conflict avoidance and de-escalation techniques.  We also answer and correct many of the misconceptions and missinformation floating around the social media gun forums.

- Handling and use of firearms, safety rules and procedures
- Where and when you are legally able to carry your weapon in Texas
- Rules of out of state travel with a firearm (reciprocity, airline travel)
- Laws relating to the use of force and the use of lethal force
- Various signs and prohibited places where even a licensee may and may not carry a weapon
- Some of the privilages afforded a LTC holder vs. Texas Permitless Carry (HB.1927)
- Conflict avoidance, defensive mindset, situational awareness
- Safe storage practices and techniques

Documentation Requirements

You will need your Texas ID or Drivers License to complete some of the State forms and to verify your identity/age for the class.

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

Requirements

This is not a beginners class, you will be expected to be able to safely handle, load, fire and address malfunctions.   If you need refresher training, we will cover some of this in class and we are happy to provide some on range pointers but during the test, you will largely be on your own in accordance with DPS regulations.
