New Shooter - Pistol

AG & AG New Shooter is a 4-hour introductory program designed to give new shooters the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to safely and confidently enjoy shooting a handgun. Ideal for those eager to learn the essentials of semi-automatic handgun operation, this course builds a solid foundation for safe and responsible participation at the range. 

This program is taught by AG & AG Certified Firearm Instructors credentialed by multiple nationally recognized organizations. The New Shooter - Pistol course provides the ideal foundation for shooters who are ready to take their first shots with a semi-automatice pistol. 

Do NOT need to be a member of A Girl & A Gun to participate!

Topics Covered

In this course, students will:

• Learn firearm safety rules, range rules, and etiquette.
• Essential parts, functions, and operation of a semi-automatic handgun.
• Practice proper grip, stance, and trigger control for safe and accurate shooting.
• Develop safe firearm handling habits under the supervision of experienced instructors.
• Gain confidence through live-fire exercises designed for beginner success.

Expectations and Outcomes

Students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the class.

Requirements

Required equipment:

• Eye protection
• Electronic ear protection (also available for rental - $10)
• A functional semi-automatic handgun in .22lr, .380 or 9mm with two magazines (also available for rental - $25) 
• 100 rounds of factory ammunition
• Note-pad and pen strongly recommended

• Climate appropriate: High collar shirt. No low-cut/V-neck tops!
• Ballcap recommended
• Closed-toe shoes
