IMPORTANT: The $150 fee shown is the 50% deposit required to register and secure your seat. Total course tuition is $300. The remaining $150 balance is due prior to or on the first day of training.

Prepare for a career as a Washington DC Special Police Officer with Secrecy Executive Training Academy.

Our DC Special Police Officer (SPO) Initial Training Course is an intensive 80-hour program designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and professional foundation needed to work in the private security and special police industry in the District of Columbia.

Students receive instructor-led training covering the role and responsibilities of a Special Police Officer, DC laws and regulations, legal authority, use of force, arrest procedures, report writing, de-escalation, patrol procedures, emergency response, evidence handling, radio communications, professionalism, and officer safety.

The program combines classroom instruction with practical exercises and scenario-based training designed to prepare students for situations they may encounter while performing security and Special Police duties.

Expectations and Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the 80-hour training program, students will receive a Secrecy Executive Training Academy certificate of completion documenting successful completion of the course.

Students will leave the academy with a stronger understanding of the legal authority, responsibilities, professional standards, safety considerations, documentation requirements, and practical skills associated with performing Special Police and security duties in Washington DC.

This course is designed to prepare students for the professional responsibilities associated with Special Police work. Completion of training does not itself constitute appointment or commission as a DC Special Police Officer and does not guarantee employment or approval by the Metropolitan Police Department or any employer.

Documentation Requirements

Students must bring a valid government-issued photo ID.

Students are responsible for meeting all eligibility, employment, background investigation, application, and licensing requirements established by the District of Columbia and the Metropolitan Police Department for Special Police Officers.

Additional documentation may be required by an employer or licensing authority during the SPO application process.

Completion of academy training does not guarantee employment, appointment, commission, or licensing as a DC Special Police Officer.
