This 12-hour Maryland Security Guard Initial Training Course provides the required initial security training for individuals seeking Maryland Security Guard Certification.

The course is delivered through an approved Maryland security guard training program and provides students with professional instruction covering the legal responsibilities, duties, safety considerations, communication skills, emergency procedures, and professional standards associated with working as a security guard in Maryland.

Students will receive 12 hours of instructor-led training covering the required Maryland security guard training objectives.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive documentation of training completion for use in the Maryland Security Guard Certification application process.

COURSE TUITION: $150

Please Note: Completion of this course does not by itself qualify a student for Maryland Security Guard Certification. Applicants must meet all Maryland State Police requirements, including being employed by or an applicant for employment with an eligible licensed security guard agency or security guard employer.

Upon successful completion of the 12-hour Maryland Security Guard Initial Training Course, students will receive documentation confirming successful completion of the required initial security guard training.

Students will leave the course with an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, legal limitations, professional standards, communication skills, safety considerations, and basic procedures associated with working as a security guard in Maryland.

The training documentation may be used as part of the student's Maryland Security Guard Certification application process.

Course completion does not guarantee employment or issuance of a Maryland Security Guard Certification. Final certification eligibility and approval are determined by the Maryland State Police.

Documentation Requirements

Students must bring a valid government-issued photo ID.

Students seeking Maryland Security Guard Certification must meet all eligibility and application requirements established by the Maryland State Police.

Applicants must be employed by or currently applying for employment with a licensed Maryland Security Guard Agency or eligible Security Guard Employer in order to apply for Security Guard Certification.

Applicants are also required to complete LiveScan fingerprinting and provide the required application documentation to the Maryland State Police.

Maryland State Police application fees, fingerprinting fees, and other licensing expenses are separate from course tuition.
