Description
This is the basic course for PRACTICAL handling and use of a handgun in defensive applications.  SMD approach is unique in that philosophies and techniques are effective in static as well as dynamic situations.  Tier I is a one day course introducing and practicing a philosophy requiring few techniques; easily understood and utilized to protect while stationary or moving.  The advanced Tiers (II & III) expand on this philosophy and techniques to include more specific static and dynamic training along with a deeper sense of decision making.

Topics Covered
- Philosophy of defense.
- Static and movement.
- Introduction to defensive techniques.
- Performance Pistol / Effective Reactive Response: Holster to First Shot(s).
- Use of Red Dot Sight (If so Equipped)

- Safety review.
- Live fire practice of reviewed techniques.
- Static and movement techniques.
- Reaction drills.
- Multiple threats.
Expectations and Outcomes
Certificate will be given upon successful completion:
-  Satisfactory knowledge in the use of their particular handgun.
-  Undertanding of the defense mindset.
-  Understanding of current firearms related laws and regulations.
-  Demonstration of practiced shooting techniques and movement.

                                                                The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
                                                            
Requirements
Students to bring:
-  Handgun (students may use one of ours).
-  Two hundred and fifty (250) rounds of ammunition. 
-  Sturdy OWB or along with their concealed carry holster.
-  Eye and hearing protection can beprovided if necessary.
-  Foul weather gear if necessary.
