Do I need any prior experience to take a class?

No experience is required. Suburban Protector welcomes complete beginners. Our NRA-certified instructor will walk you through everything you need to know from the ground up, in a patient, judgment-free environment. Whether you have never touched a firearm or are looking to sharpen existing skills, there is a course for you.

Do I need to bring my own firearm or equipment?

No. Suburban Protector provides firearms as well as eye and ear protection for students. You do not need to own a gun to take any of our courses. Just show up ready to learn.

How long does the Florida CCW class take?

Our Florida Concealed Carry Weapon licensing class takes a few hours to complete. During that time we cover firearm safety, Florida use-of-force law, responsible concealed carry, and live-fire qualification. It is designed to be thorough, efficient, and easy to follow for students at any experience level.

How much do classes cost?

Highly Recommend Mike for Firearms Training

I’ve been training with Mike for self-defense, and I can honestly say he’s one of the best instructors out there. He’s patient, knowledgeable, and really takes the time to make sure you feel confident and safe. Standing and shooting at the range doesn't even slightly compare to this. You'll learn real life drills and skills that you hope to never have to use but you need to know. Mike is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and has a great teaching method. With Greg and Mike there's no way to walk away without feeling confident that if something were to happen, you are significantly more prepared than before taking the class. I cannot recommend this enough!

Mike hosts and instructs the best class Ive attended. I'm an avid gun guy and shoot way more than most. My girlfriend wanted to take another shooting fundamentals or basics class, as it had been several years since her last one and she wasn't very comfortable shooting handguns/ pistols.

Upon arrival of the class a spot opened up as a client of Mike's couldn't make it. He asked if I would like to join instead of spectate. I jumped at the opportunity to improve my current skill set. Mike, and his staff didnt disappoint, It was hands down the best class Denise has ever taken and I learned so many small details that really improved my game. The class was extremely safe and held on a beautiful outdoor range in Okeechobee. If there was something someone needed extra time grasping, he provided the time, instruction and repetition to do so. I will definitely be signing up for some of his advanced classes in the future. It was such a fun time!

First of all Mike (Suburban Protector) is a very talented shooter and competitor in his right. His accuracy and speed and very impressive and his scores are always right up in the top.

Over the years in the shooting world he has gained an incredible amount of knowledge and experience by taking courses and learning from some of the best instructors out there. I took a defensive handgun course today with Mike at Suburban Protector, and it was an eye-opener in the best way. I’ve shot at plenty of indoor ranges before, but I’ve never been at a place where you can move and shoot or draw and shoot most ranges just don’t allow it.

The outdoor gun range in Okeechobee, FL is private and set up specifically for real-world drills. Mike, an NRA-certified instructor, was patient and clear, walking me through safety, movement, and handling under stress. It wasn’t just standing still and aiming at paper; we practiced skills that actually translate to self-defense situations.

They also offer concealed carry classes and private range rentals, which I’m already thinking about trying next. I’d definitely recommend checking out Suburban Protector. I left feeling like I actually learned something useful and had a good time doing it.
