Course Focus: Mastering Weapon-Mounted & Handheld Light Techniques
This intensive 6-hour comprehensive course is designed to prepare students for the reality of defensive scenarios, over 50% of which occur in low-light conditions. The course is split between indoor non-live fire tactics training and live-fire range application, ensuring mastery of light discipline, identification, and engagement in reduced visibility.
What You Will Master:
📌 Indoor Training (3 Hours – Non-Live Fire)
- Techniques for Handheld & Weapon-Mounted Lights: Learn various flashlight techniques (e.g., Harries, Chapman) and proper operation of weapon-mounted lights (WML).
- Light Discipline & Target Identification: Understand how to use light without giving away your position and accurately distinguish between a threat and a non-threat in the dark.
- Manipulating Firearms While Using a Light: Practice reloading, clearing malfunctions, and transitioning with the added complexity of a light source.
- Room Clearing & Low-Light Tactics: Introduction to basic search and clear principles in a low-light environment.
📌 Range Training (3 Hours – Live Fire)
- Shooting with Integrated Light: Engage targets using both a handheld flashlight (various techniques) and a weapon-mounted light.
- Low-Light Live Fire Drills: Challenging drills focusing on accurate target engagement and speed in reduced visibility.

Requirements
📝 Important Course Notes
- Prerequisite: Completion of previous Handgun Levels is strongly recommended due to the complexity of the dynamic drills in low-light.
- Training Environment: This is a 6-hour course split between an indoor facility (non-live fire) and the range (live fire).
- Required Firearm: All students must bring and use their own personal, operational handgun.
- Required Equipment:
- A reliable handheld flashlight suitable for tactical use (bright, momentary switch).
- If applicable, a Weapon-Mounted Light (WML) and a compatible holster.
- A durable Outside-the-Waistband (OWB) Holster and at least two operational magazines with a dedicated magazine pouch.
- Ammunition Requirement: All students must bring 300 rounds of FMJ 9mm ammunition.
- Safety Gear: Proper range attire, eye protection, and ear protection are mandatory.
- Safety Policy (Indoor): For the indoor portion, NO LIVE AMMUNITION IS PERMITTED. Firearms must be unloaded and inspected prior to entry.
- Course Cost: The course fee is $400 total.
