Our Denver Renewal Class is designed for current or recently expired Colorado CHP holders who need to complete the required renewal training. Students receive updated instruction on Colorado firearms laws, self-defense and use of force, conflict avoidance, situational awareness, safe concealed carry practices, and complete the required live-fire qualification.
Whether you've carried for years or simply want to refresh your knowledge before renewing your permit, our experienced instructors provide practical, up-to-date instruction in a professional and supportive learning environment.
Students who successfully complete the course receive a Certificate of Completion that may be used when renewing a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit, subject to all applicable Colorado laws and local sheriff requirements.

Yes. Students who successfully complete the course receive documentation that may be used when renewing a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit, subject to Colorado law and your local sheriff's office requirements.
Is live-fire qualification included?
Yes. Live-fire qualification is included as part of the renewal course.
Do I need to bring my current permit?
It is recommended but not required. Bringing your current or recently expired permit may help if you have questions during class.
Can I rent a handgun?
Yes. Students may rent either a Taurus .22 LR pistol or a Glock 9mm pistol. Rentals include 150 rounds of ammunition. Please reserve your rental firearm when registering.

How long is my renewal training certificate valid?
Colorado renewal training certificates are generally valid for one year from the date of successful completion.
What should I bring to class?
Bring a government-issued photo ID, your unloaded handgun, eye and hearing protection, at least 50 rounds of factory ammunition, and any other equipment listed in your registration confirmation.
Can I renew an expired Colorado CHP?
Colorado law provides specific timelines and requirements for renewing an expired permit. Contact your local sheriff's office for guidance on your eligibility, and we'll provide the required training if you're eligible to renew.

Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age to apply for a Colorado CHP.
- Present a valid government-issued photo ID.
- Follow all instructor directions and range safety rules.
- Successfully complete the classroom instruction.
- Successfully complete the written examination and live-fire qualification.
- No prior experience required (beginner-friendly)
- For live fire portion (rental with ammo available on checkout):
- Handgun (semi-auto or revolver)
- Minimum 50 to 100 rounds of ammunition
- At least one magazine
- Firearm must be unloaded and secured in a case
- Eye and ear protection (rental & purchase available)
