Description

A focused service for getting your red dot system properly installed, adjusted, and zeroed.

A More Personal Way to Build Confidence With Your Optic

I begin by reviewing the firearm, optic, mounting hardware, and your intended use. I check the installation for proper fit and alignment, then make practical adjustments to the sight picture and controls. The process is paced carefully so you can follow what is being changed and why.

Once the setup is ready, I guide the zeroing process at the range and help confirm consistent results. You leave with a clearer understanding of your optic, the adjustments that matter, and the maintenance checks that support reliable use over time.

Topics Covered

  1. Equipment Review: I inspect the firearm, optic, mount, and current setup.

  2. Setup And Adjustment: I install or refine the optic and establish a clear sight picture.

  3. Zero Confirmation: I guide range testing and confirm the final zero.

Expectations and Outcomes

1. Safely handle firearms flawlessly, demonstrate consistent presentation/draw mechanics from a holster, and possess a foundational understanding of your specific firearm. This is an intermediate-to-advanced curriculum.
2. Arrive with your personal defensive or duty handgun, a securely mounted pistol optic (red/green dot), a rigid holster, and a basic understanding of your dot's windage/elevation controls.
3. Maintain strict muzzle and finger discipline without supervision, adhering strictly to real-time adjustments and performance commands from the coaching staff.
4. Proper torque specifications, optic mounting layout, battery management, and understanding window occlusion.
5. Developing clean, repeatable mechanics to immediately "find the dot" without hunting or standard iron-sight alignment delays.
6. Understanding mechanical vs. optical offset, choosing a zero distance (e.g., 10, 15, or 25 yards), and isolating trigger mechanics to track clean point-of-impact adjustments.
7.Managing grip stabilization and body stance structure to keep the dot tracking predictably within the window under recoil.
8. Walk away with a perfectly confirmed, stable mechanical zero on your optic tailored to your specific defensive or duty ammunition.
9. Successfully break the habit of focusing on the front sight post, achieving true target-focused tracking while maintaining predictive dot placement.
10. Gain the operational confidence to troubleshoot common optic issues, diagnose shifting zeroes, and smoothly clear weapon malfunctions on the fly.

Requirements

Permitted Handguns: Only high-quality, modern, semi-automatic pistols or modern defensive revolvers from reliable manufacturers are permitted. No poorly maintained or unsafe firearms will be allowed on the line.

Magazines: A minimum of 3 operational magazines is required to keep the training pace moving efficiently.

Standard Course Load: 500 rounds of factory-manufactured, brass-cased ammunition is required per standard day of training.

Eye Protection:
Ballistic-rated, wrap-around shooting glasses or clear safety glasses are mandatory. High-impact prescription eyewear with side shields is acceptable.

Ear Protection:
Electronic hearing protection (earmuffs) is highly recommended so you can clearly hear instructor commands and safety briefings while on the firing line. Traditional foam earplugs or passive muffs are acceptable but less optimal.

Range Attire:

  • Shirts: High-necked t-shirts, crew necks, or collared polo shirts are required to prevent hot brass from slipping down your clothing. No tank tops or low-cut shirts.
  • Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes, boots, or athletic sneakers are mandatory. Sandals, flip-flops, or open-toe shoes are strictly prohibited.
  • Headwear: A baseball cap or brimmed hat is highly recommended to deflect flying brass away from your face
