You will learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry a concealed firearm for personal defense. 

You will spend an hour at an open shooting range, which provides a better learning experience than at an indoor range.

2. Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense.
3. Basic Defensive Pistol Skills.

This CCW Course: is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience.
This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end and may be conducted in a classroom and on a shooting range with an Instructor.

Adults age 18 and older may now qualify for a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License!
Following the June 17, 2026, ruling by Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) confirms that it will issue concealed weapon licenses to applicants 18 years of age or older who meet all other eligibility requirements. What are the other requirements?
Applicants must meet the applicable legal requirements, including:

• U.S. residency and citizenship status. Generally, applicants must reside in the United States and be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, subject to certain exceptions. • Proof of firearm competency. A qualifying firearms safety course that includes safe handling and live-fire shooting in the instructor’s physical presence is one way to satisfy this requirement. • No disqualifying criminal history. Eligibility depends on the offense and its disposition—not simply whether an applicant has ever been arrested or has a completely “clean record.” [Florida Senate](https://www.flsenate.gov/Laws/Statutes/2026/790.06)

• No dishonorable discharge from the armed forces. Applicants must also meet the remaining requirements concerning safe firearm handling, substance abuse, certain mental-health adjudications or commitments, and other legal disqualifications. The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

Requirements

IMPORTANT: Licensing and purchasing are different!
Federal law still generally requires you to be at least 21 to purchase a handgun from a federally licensed firearms dealer.
