Description

This course is designed for those who are beginner students looking to familiarize themselves with the essentials of properly handling, transporting, storing, and shooting a handgun.

Upon completion the two-day course students will gain the certification needed to obtain the DC Concealed Carry Permit, 

The course includes a certificate upon completion, one-hour sessions of pistol instruction, as well as a target, and firearm. While we provide firearms for the range portion, students are encouraged to bring their own personal firearms. The classroom segment will take place at Archangel Training Academy 5758 Silver Hill RD, District Heights MD, and the range time will follow the class on a weekday.  If you cannot come to the range on a weekday, please do not take this course. We do not go to the range on weekends.  The range name is Maryland Small Arms, and it is located at 9801 Fallard CT, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772

Topics Covered

If you are brand new to shooting, or just getting back into the game, it is recommended that you participate in our Firearms Training Basic Class before taking the concealed carry/wear and carry couse or before heading to the range for ccw/WCP certification. Firearms Training Basic Class 8 hours of hands on instruction from Chief  John Ayala an USCCA and NRA certified instructor.

  • Instruction in the fundamentals of pistol use. (The care, cleaning, maintenance, loading, unloading, and storage of pistols)
  • Instruction in the legal aspects of firearm possession, carry and use, including the rules governing the use of deadly force in the District of Columbia. 
  • Instructions to trainins concerning LAW OF SELF-DEFENSE
  • When to Use Deadly Force
  • Self-Defense Scenarios
  • Knowledge of how to operate your firearm
  • Understand common nomenclature and range commands
  • Knowledge of all safety rules

The Metropolitan Police Department is the agency responsible for registering firearms in the District of Columbia. By being familiar with the law and the process, you will be able to quickly and easily register your weapon and ensure that you are in compliance with the District’s laws regarding proper registration and safekeeping of your weapon. If you wish to register a firearm or apply for a License to Carry a handgun, both must be done through an appointment (scheduling link below).

Ammo, Range Time and Target is not included in price.

*The student is responsible for application fees, fingerprinting fees, and any other fees required by the state you are applying for a permit.   

NOTE: Any students who have a Marijana or Capon small on or in their clothing will not be allowed to take class. And will not receive a refund.

DC Concealed Carry Permits sought in response to crime increase, firearm instructor says (fox5dc.com)

As of January 1, 2021, the Firearms Registration Branch has discontinued printing Hard ID cards (Licenses). All Concealed carry permits approved on or after January 1, 2021, will receive, via email, a notification that the application has been reviewed and approved.  This paper license, or an electronic copy of the license, must be on you at all times while carring your weapon.

Refund Policy
*TERMS AND CONDITIONS - All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable to another date unless notice of cancellation is 7 days or more of the scheduled course. Payments are able to be transferred to another individual, however the cancellation policy will still apply and it's upon the purchaser to notify Archangel Training Academy in advance of the change.

Archangel Training Academy reserves the right to reschedule any course date due to the minimum amount of scheduled customers not being met, all deposits will be held for a future course date to be determined by Archangel Training Academy.

Range Schedule Policy:

  • Any cancellation or reschedule made less than 24 hours will result in a cancellation fee. The amount of the fee will be equal to 100 percent of the range fee $40. 
  •  
  • If you are more than 15 minutes late for your range time, we may not be able to accommodate you. In this case, the same cancellation fee will apply. We will do our very best to reschedule your range time for another time that is convenient to you.
  •  
  • In the event of a true, unavoidable emergency, all or part of your cancellation fee may be applied to future reange fee.

WASHINGTON DC CONCEALED CARRY REQUIREMENTS
In addition to meeting all of the Eligibility Requirements to Register a Firearm, an individual applying to carry a concealed firearm must meet the follwing suitability requirements:

  1. Meets all the requirements for a person registering a firearm.
  2. Completed a firearms training course by an instructor certified by the Chief ( You may apply for an exemption based on previous training within the past 2 years)
  3. Is not presently an alcoholic, addict, or habitual user of a controlled dangerous substance, unless the habitual use of a controlled dangerous substance is under licensed medical direction.
  4. Has not exhibited propensity for violence or instability that may reasonably render a person’s possession of a concealed pistol a danger to the person or another.
  5. Does not currently suffer nor has suffered in the previous five years from any mental disorder, illness, or condition that creates a substantial risk that he or she is a danger to himself or herself or others.
