Description

This is an introduction to basic handgun function and safety. 
The student will learn about the safe use of a semi-automatic handgun.
Topics introduced:

  • Safe handling of firearms and the generally accepted 4 rules of handgun safety
  • Loading and unloading a semi-automatic handgun
  • Proper grip of a handgun
  • Proper trigger management
  • Proper sighting of a handgun with iron sights or with a red dot sight
  • Introduction to target shooting

There will be a followup session available for continued training opportunities on the same day.

This course includes the use of a handgun.  Though students are encouraged to bring their own handgun and ammunition.
Range fee to be collected on site $30

Expectations and Outcomes

  • By the end of the course the student should feel a higher level of confidence in their ability to safely handle a firearm and to safely clear common semi-automatic firearms.
  • A certificate of training will be provided after the course in PDF format via email.

Requirements

Students should bring one fifty round box of ammunition for their handgun.  If they are using the instructors handguns, they should bring one 50 round box of 9mm 115 grain production ammunition purchased from a local gun store or can purchase one box of ammunition from the instructor.
