Description
Tactical Pistol II is a scenario-based self-defense course. It's an advanced defensive pistol course for students who already have safe gun handling skills, solid fundamentals, and prior experience drawing from concealment. This class moves far beyond basic accuracy and introduces more realistic defensive scenarios.
Students will work on close-range defensive pistol skills, fast drawing from concealment under pressure, movement, shooting from retention, multiple-threat scenarios, decision-making, and responding to sudden violent encounters.
A major feature of this class is learning how to disrupt or reset an attacker’s OODA Loop via unexpected responses that create a distraction, which opens a brief window to move, escape, draw and counterattack when lawful and necessary.
The purpose of Tactical Pistol II is not simply to shoot faster. The goal is to help students think, move, decide, and act more effectively under stress while maintaining safety and control.
Students should complete Tactical Pistol I or have equivalent training before attending this class.
Topics Covered
Topics covered will include drawing from concealment under pressure, close-range defensive pistol skills, shooting from retention, defensive movement, lateral movement, movement off the line of attack, target transitions, multiple-threat situations, use of cover, verbal commands, distraction, feigned compliance, OODA Loop disruption, decision-making under stress, scenario-based drills, and understanding when shooting may or may not be the correct response.
Students will also work on maintaining safety, muzzle awareness, trigger-finger discipline, and control while solving more complex defensive situations.
Expectations and Outcomes
Students should expect a practical, skill-building defensive pistol class focused on improving safety, accuracy, efficiency, and confidence with a handgun. This class is not designed for brand-new shooters. Students should already understand basic firearm safety and be able to handle their pistol safely before attending.
By the end of class, students should have a stronger understanding of their current shooting ability, the mistakes that may be limiting their accuracy or speed, and the specific skills they need to continue practicing. Outcomes may include better grip, improved trigger control, faster target acquisition, smoother draw from concealment, more consistent hits, and greater confidence handling a pistol under time pressure.
This course is intended to prepare students for more advanced defensive pistol and scenario-based training. Skill improvement will depend on the student’s starting ability, equipment, attitude, and willingness to practice after class.
