Description
Tactical Pistol III - The CCW Challenge is a once-per-month maintenance and competition class for students who have already completed Tactical Pistol I and II or have equivalent defensive pistol training.
This class is designed to help students keep their skills sharp through a friendly competition of structured drills, timed exercises, and scenario-based challenges. Students will work on the skills developed in earlier classes, including draw from concealment, accuracy under time pressure, movement, target transitions, shooting from retention, use of cover, and decision-making.
The purpose of this class is not to introduce brand-new material every month, though you will learn new responses to new and exciting scenarios on a regular basis. The main purpose is to maintain and strengthen practical defensive pistol skills through repetition, pressure, scoring, and comparison over time.
Students will be able to track their progress, identify weak areas, and continue improving in a safe, structured, and challenging training environment. Scores will be posted on Practiscore.
It is a friendly, fun competition where you will make new friends who have the same interests that you do.
Topics Covered
Topics covered include fast draw from concealment, timed accuracy drills, target transitions, movement, shooting from retention, use of cover, reloads, malfunction response, close-range defensive skills, multiple-target drills, decision-making, OODA Loop disruption, shoot / no-shoot situations, and scenario-based exercises.
Your instructor will observe your technique and be available for a critique and suggestions for improvement.
Drills will be scored or timed so students can measure improvement, compare performance, and identify the specific skills that need more practice. Scores will be posted on Practiscore.
Expectations and Outcomes
Students should expect a challenging monthly class focused on skill maintenance, repetition, pressure testing, and friendly competition. This is not a beginner class. Students must already be able to handle their firearm safely, draw from concealment safely, follow range commands, and make accurate hits with reasonable consistency.
By attending regularly, students should improve their ability to perform defensive pistol skills on demand instead of only during occasional training. Outcomes may include a smoother draw, better accuracy under time pressure, improved movement, stronger gun-handling habits, better decision-making, and increased confidence.
Because this is a recurring maintenance class, progress will come from repeated attendance, honest performance tracking, and continued practice between sessions.
