South Carolina CWP Course July 19, 2025

Description

This course provides the training required to apply for a South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit. Students will learn state laws regarding concealed carry, use of deadly force, firearm safety, and storage. The class includes both classroom instruction and a live-fire proficiency test. Upon successful completion, students will receive the documentation needed to submit their CWP application to SLED.

Topics Covered

This course includes critical training in:

• South Carolina firearm and concealed carry laws

• Statutory and case law regarding the use of deadly force

• Safe firearm handling and storage (especially around children)

• Prohibited carry locations

• Legal responsibilities and liabilities of firearm ownership

• Range proficiency and safety

Expectations and Outcomes

Understand South Carolina laws on firearms, concealed carry, and the use of deadly force

• Be familiar with statutory and case law governing self-defense
• Know where firearms are prohibited and legal responsibilities of carrying
• Learn proper firearm storage, especially for child safety
• Demonstrate safe firearm handling and marksmanship through a live-fire qualification
• Receive the necessary documentation to apply for a South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) through SLED

This course equips students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to carry responsibly and legally in South Carolina.

Documentation Requirements

Valid South Carolina state ID

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

Requirements

Your firearm and at least 50 rounds of ammunition (if applicable)

• Eye and ear protection

• Notepad and pen
