Description

Defensive Pistol course:
This is a civilian concealed carry class for self defense.  This is
not a police class.  This is not a military class.  This is not a hunting
class.  This is not a competition shooting class.

Your living room, my living room, or where ever is convenient.
     Practicum -- 20 hours

Read carefully to decide if you want to take this class.
It may take months to get the correct equipment.
It may take a couple of months for a craftsman to make
a holster that actually fits your pistol or to have a
gunsmith modify your pistol to actually fit your hand
by reshaping the grip (middle finger tip must point back
toward you) and moving the trigger (to accommodate
the length of your index finger), so get started immediately
if you intend to attend.
You wouldn't wear shoes that didn't fit your feet.
Why would you carry a pistol that didn't fit your hand?
The lives of your loved ones don't depend on your shoes.
Those lives might depend on your ability to handle your pistol.

Expectations and Outcomes

We will issue an NRA Defensive Pistol certificate if you pass the
written and shooting test (a USPSA match shot in a
tactically correct manner, no disqualification, no safety violations,
no muzzling no-shoot targets, etc.).
DefensivePistolcraft.com will issue you a certificate upon successful
completion of the course.  The certificate will list the things accomplished
in the course.
     If you complete Tracy Mendenhall's
2 day TECC (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care) Course,
https://www.dontbleedout.com/products/tactical-emergency-casualty-care-course-re473
we will list it on the certificate.
     If you complete Andrew Branca's
Law of Self Defense, live online class upcoming dates

Documentation Requirements

Send an email to
Jon_Low@yahoo.com
requesting all of the documents for the course.  Please read all
documents immediately.  You will have questions.  We need to
answer all of your questions and ensure you have all of the required
equipment before the start of  class.  The instructors will not loan
you equipment.  Other students, who are strangers to you, will not
be allowed to loan you equipment.

Requirements

Send me an email requesting the equipment list. You will need
everything on the list.  If you want to borrow our equipment for
the class, let me know at least a month in advance.

Revolvers take too long to reload and need to be reloaded too often.
Therefore, they are not recommended.  But, if you bring one or more
(because it's easier and faster to change revolvers than to reload a
revolver), we will teach you to use a revolver in combat.
"Double action / single action" pistols require you to learn
two different trigger presses.  That doesn't make sense on any level.
Therefore, they are not recommended.  But, if you bring one, we will
teach you how to use it in combat.  And we will teach you to use it
as designed.  Because using the DA/SA pistol in a manner that it was
not designed causes huge liability problems.
You should bring a common semi-auto single action pistol.
Striker actions are effectively single action pistols.
If you bring an expensive exotic pistol, you will regret it.  We will
ask you to drop your unloaded cocked pistol on the gravel covered
ground.  If you refuse to do so, we will ask you to leave the class.
If in the real world, if the police command you to drop your pistol
and you don't immediately drop it, the police will shoot you.  Lots of
documented cases.

The NRA recommends 9mm, 40 S&W, or 45 ACP calibers.
Anything more powerful will make getting subsequent hits
difficult, because the recoil is going to move your sights off the target.
There are no misses, just unintentional hits; the bullet will hit
something; destroying property, injuring innocent bystanders,
maybe killing them.
10mm is more powerful and has a huge recoil; not recommended.
Anything less powerful will reduce the probability of stopping
the attack.
So bring a 9mm.  It is the cheapest and has the lowest recoil.

Cheers,
Jon
