Description

An equalizer can be a pistol, a blade, a rifle; or, it can be all three. Without the proper training though, these equalizers can be a liability to you. The more you sweat on the mat and on the range, the less you bleed in the streets!

"In-fight weapons access", as coined by Mr. Craig Douglas of Shivworks, (deterrents, edged weapons or fire arms inside of grappling or striking ranges) followed by casualty care (self-aid/buddy-aid) are all incorporated into three days of HARD training in this course where you will learn the following skills to help you survive the unthinkable:

  • Controlling space: The importance of time, distance, cover and concealment.
  • Shooting from compromised positions and from cover.
  • Weapon Transitions: pistol to blade, etc.
  • Edged weapons (deployment, choice of, location of, etc.).
  • The use of a firearm in and during a physical altercation.
    • Craig Douglas, the authority on this subject, refers to this as “In Fight Weapons Access”.
  • How to fight for a position of dominance before accessing any type of weapon.
  • Learn how to profile, foresee potential hazardous situations, and how to formulate a plan of action.
  • How to talk to the police if you have been involved in a lethal force encounter.
  • The psychological and physiological effects of being in a fight for your life.
  • What to do if your family is present and how to treat their injuries in the field.
  • The when, how and why to deploy a gun into the equation.
  • Stress drills that push your speed and accuracy.
  • Treatment of wounds & self-preservation techniques:
    • Tourniquet application (under stress) & combat casualty care.
  • You will learn to shoot in darkness: Our night fire portion is fantastic!!!!
  • Low light and NO light shooting techniques using either weapon mounted lights or handheld flashlight.
  • One handed weapon manipulation and malfunction clearance drills.

Requirements

There are no formal training prerequisites required for participation in this course. Likewise, you cannot be “overqualified” to take it either. There are civilians and law enforcement students alike who have taken this course many times over as they find it sharpens their developed skills and they continually learn more each time.

 

 

 

  • Satisfactory completion of this course may make you eligible for other DSA™ courses, subject to Owner/Operator admissions approval.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check is required for admission into all DSA courses.
