This is a 2-Day course (8am-6pm the first day, and 8am-2pm day two). Students will receive two handbooks (NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting, and Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home). Day one consists of all classroom time and day two is almost all range time.

Day one topics are: firearms safety, pistol nomenclature and selecting a pistol for self-defense, types of ammunition for self-defense, basic defensive pistol skills, drawing from concealment, loading and stoppage remediation, having a winner’s mindset, situational awareness, “Fight/Flight/Paralyzed type responses”, the proper response to  an identified threat, Deadly Force and when that right ends, better skills to communicate with law enforcement after a shooting, knowledge of home security and defense plans, and students will be given a take-home test.

Day two consists of going over the take-home test, drawing from a holster, cover and concealment meanings and how to use them, the enhancement of the students firearms fundamentals, sighted fire and point shooting differences, single-handed shooting, dry-fire shooting drills, and then the shooting test.

  • A 1-Hour lunch break will be provided both days.
  • Successful students will also receive your MSP Certified Qualification Score Sheet to be submitted with their application for handgun permit.
  • Pricing does not include ammunition or the rental of a handgun.
