Description
Level two is five-hours and offers the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store, and use a firearm safely and effectively for personal protection outside the home. Students spend about 4.5 to 5 hours on the range and shooting approximately 115 rounds of ammunition learning advanced shooting skills. Time and ammunition requirements are minimum, and may be exceeded.

- Presentation from Concealment - Drawing from strong-side holsters 
- Drawing from concealment garments (jackets, shirts) 
- Safe holstering techniques under stress 
 
- Multiple Target Engagement - Rapid threat assessment 
- Shooting controlled pairs and transition drills 
- Movement between targets (lateral/vertical) 
 
- Shooting on the Move - Forward, rearward, and lateral movement while engaging targets 
- Maintaining balance and trigger control while moving 
 
- Use of Cover and Concealment - Identifying cover vs. concealment 
- Shooting from behind cover (standing, kneeling, low crouch) 
- Slicing the pie / cornering techniques 
 
- Low-Light Engagement (if facilities allow) - Flashlight-assisted shooting (handheld and weapon-mounted) 
- Flashlight search techniques 
- Target ID in low-light conditions 
 
- Emergency and Tactical Reloads - Performing reloads under time pressure 
- Speed reloads (empty gun) vs. tactical reloads (partial magazine) 
 
- Malfunction Drills - Immediate action (tap-rack-bang) 
- Clearing Type I, II, and III malfunctions 
- Simulated failure drills under stress 
 
- One-Handed Shooting Techniques - Dominant and support hand only 
- One-handed reloads and malfunction clearing (optional but advanced) 
 
- 360° Awareness and Movement Drills - After-action scanning 
- Engaging targets from different angles 
- Movement to/from cover or safer positions 
 
- Timed Drills and Defensive Scenarios - Live-fire simulations of realistic defensive situations 
- Engaging threats under time and stress conditions 
 
Expectations and Outcomes
Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and appropriate (level two) course completion certificates(s)

Prerequisite: NRA Personal Protection Outside The Home Level 1 or by passing the pre-course evaluation for intermediate shooting if you hace a state/local CCW permit. 
Student must have their own firearm, holster and ammo
