Description
This phase provides the foundational skills necessary for safe and effective handgun operation. Students will be introduced to the core principle of marksmanship, emphasizing proper firearm handling, safety and consistency. Instruction focus on developing correcct grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control, and follow-through.
Through structured dry-fire and live-fire exercise, students will build the muscle memory and disciple required to produced accurate, repeatable results. This phase established the technical baseline upon which all advanced and defensive shooting skills are built.
Instructional methods:
- Lecture and Instructor demonstration
- Dry-fire practices (repetition and correction)
- Live-fire training with coaching and feedback
Topics Covered
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this phase students will be able to:
- Demonstrate safe firearm handling at all times
- Apply the fundamental rules of firearm safety
- Establish a proper grip and stance for recoil control
- Achieve correct sight alignment and sight picture
- Excute smooth, consistent trigger press without distrubing sights
- Demonstrate proper follow-through after each shot
- Maintain consistent shot placement at close distances
Expectations and Outcomes
Performance Standard
Student must demonstrate:
- Safe firearm handling with no violations
- Consistent shot grouping within a 6-inche circle at 3-7 yards
- Proper application of all fundamental shooting techniques
